The Security Cameras Guide was started by me, Adrian A. Martin, in 2010 as a monthly newsletter sent to a small group of friends. Back then, I had gotten into the investment hobby of flipping houses – buying homes, refurbishing them and then selling them at a small profit. In the course of this business, I found myself installing security camera systems in most of the homes. It helped me protect the houses while they were vacant and also added value when it came time to sell them.
Soon my friends, many of whom had the same house-flipping hobby, were asking me for recommendations on which security cameras to buy. Which ones were the latest and greatest this season? So, I would collate my findings and, being the good friend that I was, would send them a concise rundown every month. Soon after that, some of the friends would add their own reviews and feedback. Eventually, it made sense to just put everything up on the web.
So that brings us to today and the present website: The Security Cameras Guide. Each review on the site represents about a dozen hours of research. Some systems we of course own ourselves. For other systems, we spend the time scouring the net for unbiased consumer reviews, talking to people who we know that bought the system and even getting feedback from manufacturers, distributors and brick and mortar stores that sell the cameras in question. At then end of the day, all the hard work has been done for you!
We hope you find The Security Cameras Guide to be a useful resource to research the optimum security camera system for your own home.
